Eyeglass Recycling

In just about any home, one can find a pair of eyeglasses that are no longer being used. That same pair of eyeglasses can change another person's life.

Throughout the year, we  collect used eyeglasses and deliver them to regional Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centers (LERCs). LERC volunteers clean, sort by prescription strength and package the glasses. Recycled glasses are distributed to people in need in low and middle income communities where they will have the greatest impact.

You can drop off your usable eyewear at Lions-sponsored collection boxes in our community. Click on this link to find the nearest eyeglass drop box:

Sedalia Community Cafe

The mission of The Community Cafe is to improve the food security of the Sedalia and Pettis County communities by providing nutritious meals to combat hunger and malnutrition through community partnerships.

Our club, through a partnership with the organization, provides an evening meal one Friday, every month. We buy, cook, and serve the food for an average of 80 people.

Christmas Shoe Program

This program was first established by the club in 1961 and continues to grow to this day. During Christmas time each year, the Lions Christmas Shoe Program Chair contacts counselors from Sedalia’s grade schools. These counselors select children who they have identified are in need of new shoes. In coordination with the counselors, Lions Club members pick the students up from school and drive them to JCPenney. At the store, Lions members help the students as THEY pick out their brand new pair of shoes!

Random Acts of Kindness (RAK)

For seventy-eight years the Sedalia Lions Club has donated funds to support many organizations and groups throughout our community. Donations are made at the recommendation of the membership and approved by the board. The "Random Acts of Kindness" project empowers individual members to make a difference in our community. Participating members are given two fity dollar bills to perform "Random Acts of Kindness" throughout our community.

During the 2016-2017 Christmas holiday season, thirty-six members performed RAK totaling $3,450.00. During regular club meetings, members shared their stories of how they blessed community members on behalf of our club. We were all moved by the stories that were shared.
